Little Things- Creating More Time & Space at Offensive Blue Line

Playing Rules:

  • The defense plays man, you, goal in all three zones


Body Positioning:
  • The  defenceman can receive a pass with his skates out side the blue line
  • As long as the defenceman stick is inside the blue line, the play is on-sides

Concept: (This is based on where the defenders are positioned)

  • If the point man receive the puck on or at the blue line, he has more time & space to shoot

  • Puck Protection

Tactics:
  • Overloading four players one side of ice
  • Cycling & Crossing


Goals:
  • Make the defender choose a man
  • Freeze the defense
  • Create 2 v. 1’s

Keys:
  • The Defenders skates must be pointing in same direction when cycling
  • Cycling & Crosses must create 2 v 1
  • Players must create good angles to receive puck
Playing Rules:
  • Cycle when under pressure
  • Third man locks middle (defensive responsibility)
  • Third Man Accountability (TMA)
Terms:
  • Screen, Tip & Rebound
