  • First man has to pressure puck carrier
  • Force the puck to be moved to boards
  • Pressure the pass receiver as he\she receives puck 
  • Defense must hold blue line

PR Korea Play Aggressive 1-2-1 Penalty Killing Trap

  • Pressuring the puck carrier, pass and lose puck
  • Hold the defensive blue line

Ireland Gives Turkey the Win! 

1.  Shot scored from before red line.
2.  Defensive zone face off, Ireland forward fails to put body in shooting lane.
3.  Ireland had four power plays face offs in the offensive zone, lost the draws and failed to pressure the loose puck. 

Ireland Fails to Play Man-You-Goal:   (IRE-LUX)


Playing Rules:
  • Always Play Man You Goal in all Three Zones
  • Only Have One Man on Boards, Others Players Off Boards
Defensive Zone Face Off – Mental Mistake Ireland

Responsibilities Defensive Zone Face Off   (Ireland)
  • Center on Center
  • Defense on Wings & Stay with Your Man
  • Wing in Middle, Stops for Loose Puck or Goes Out to Point.
  • Wing on Out Side Goes Out to Point

PRK-LUX Offensive Rush, Cross Before Blue Line

Goal:

  • Always get shot on goal when in middle lane

Terms:

  • Make the easy pass; Shoot on Hard Pass



Defensive Mistakes Luxembourg: (Bad Defensive Balance)


  • Outnumbered on boards
  • All 5 players on one side of ice 
  • 4 players on the boards
  •  Defense gives up blue line (Bad Gap) 

PRK outnumbers  Luxembourg by getting two guys on puck.

 Five Luxembourg players are on one side of ice. 


Rules:

  • Always Stop Set-UP  (Korea reads loose puck and pressures up)
  • Always out number the opposition – PRK does great job outnumbering to get puck.




Reads:

  • Read the loose puck
  • Read the space and cross to middle lane



Keys:

  • Crossing player must stay disciplined not to go off sides
  • Player with the puck, must get puck into shooting position




Tactics:

  • Cross – Man without the puck crosses in front of puck carrier


  • The cross create space and defender back up into zone




  • The puck carrier has the puck in T.O.P. Position
    • Three Offensive Play – The player can shoot, pass or fake.


  •  Always go to the net for rebound – Stop at net!

Five Tips To Improve Your Focus and Perform Better:

1. Realize your thoughts are not necessarily reality.

  • Do not listen to negative talk
  • Shut off the negative self talk by talking to yourself positively
  • Be proactive with your self talk and negative thoughts will disappear
  • Focus on a happy time


2. Write down your most important goals 3-5X each day. 




3. Think about something you are grateful for in your life.

  • Releases negative thoughts
  • Gratitude heightens alertness, enthusiasm, determination, optimism, and energy
  • Gratitude allows athletes greater progress toward achieving personal goals with less stress


4. Take time to breathe deeply. 
  • The higher the pressure, the deeper your breathing should be
  • Deep breathing is marked by expansion of the abdomen rather than the chest


5. Stay in the present physically and mentally.

  • Present a strong physiology
  • Visualize or think about a time you played very successful

Turkey Wins Gold – IIHF Group III 2012 World Championship

Congratulation to the team and coaching staff. Turkey was the best coached and prepared team in the tourney. The players played hard and deserve the gold medal. Turkey had the best goalies, defenders and forwards in the group. Every player on the club contributed to the championship.

Four Reasons Turkey Won 8-1

1. Luxembourg Could not beat Turkey’s 1-2-2 Trap. Luxembourg forced the pass into the middle ice and turned over the puck.
 System:
  •  1-2-2 Trap

Tactics:

  • Force the puck carrier to pass
  • Pressure the pass receiver
Luxembourg made passes when they were not pressured.
2. Turkey won all the battles on the boards and was able to move the puck to slot for shot.


3. Turkey was able to beat Luxembourg  all  game long by utilizing a stretch man tactic.


Tactics:
  • Stretch Man
Keys:
  • Make the defense commit to puck carrier

Playing Rule:

  • Always pass the puck as defense turns
4. Luxembourg failed to keep the ice divided. Good defensive teams keep the puck on one side of the ice. Turkey was able to easily carry the puck from one side of the ice to other. This caused problems for Luxembourg goalie and defensive zone coverage.
